Join us for what will certainly be a fascinating presentation from Andrew Carlson, a security and intelligence expert with the Los Angeles Join Regional Intelligence Center!

Topic:

Andrew Carlson from the Los Angeles Joint Regional Intelligence Center (JRIC) will be presenting JRIC 101. This presentation will focus on how the JRIC works and how they fit into the State Threat Assessment System (STAT). Andrew will also elaborate on Critical Infrastructure Protection and current security trends. He will also speak about the FBI Infragard program, created for private sector engagement. 

The Los Angeles JRIC is a fusion center within the State Threat Assessment System and provides a collaborative space for federal, state, and local law enforcement and public safety agencies to integrate criminal threats within its six county area of responsibility. Their mission is to protect the people, infrastructure, and economy of the Central District of California from terrorism and criminal activity by analyzing and disseminating threat intelligence to local, state, tribal, and federal partners.

Speaker Bio:

Andrew Carlson is a security and intelligence management consulting professional employed at the Los Angeles JRIC where he serves within the Critical Infrastructure Protection Working Group. His current title is Critical Infrastructure Assessor.

Andrew has over 15 years’ experience in special operations rescue and recovery, crisis management, security, and business continuity. He performed Emergency Management Specialist duties on both the California National Guard Full Spectrum Integrated Vulnerability Assessment Team conducting assessments on Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources and for the Defense Contract Management Agency-Mission Assurance Division. Andrew has instructed the California Highway Patrol, DHS Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Sheriff Department, and San Bernardino Sheriff Departments on the fundamentals of security vulnerability and threat assessment. Additionally he has managed a border barrier fence construction project, served as the Lead Crisis and Continuity Advisor for TSA’s Secure Flight Program, and authored high value target consequence management plans for inter-modal mass transportation nodes, high availability data center programs, and regional strategic stockpile logistics security. Andrew holds a BA in Sociology from University of San Diego and a certificate in Weapons of Mass Destruction Preparedness from Henley Putnam University. He is a Certified Business Continuity Professional, Certified Protection Professional, and a NREMT-Paramedic trained at the John F Kennedy Special Operations Medical Training Center.
